  Thallus foliicolous, effuse, forming irregularly spreading patches 2–5 cm wide, adnate, pale grey to grey or greenish grey, with scattered paler slightly raised areas, continuous, to 100 µm thick, with few calcium oxalate crystals in the photobiont layer and with 1–2 µm wide hyphae; sometimes forming a hyphal network partially covering the substratum. Hypothallus indistinct, byssoid, white; hyphae 1–2 µm wide. Prothallus to 2 mm wide, byssoid, composed of interwoven and radiating hyphae, whitish. Pseudoisidia cylindrical, sparingly branched or becoming subcoralloid, 0.1–0.3 mm long, 30–70 µm wide. Photobiont cells solitary or a few cells aggregated, rounded to oblong, 7–12 ´ 5–8 µm. Medulla thin, ±distinct, white. Asci and pycnidia not seen.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K–, C+ red, KC+ red, P–, UV+ pale grey-white, I–, K/I–; containing confluentic acid (major), gyrophoric acid (minor), constipatic acid (minor), dehydro-constipatic acid (minor), protoconstipatic acid (minor), lecanoric acid (trace).
     
  Known only from the type locality in north-eastern Qld.
